What does the program cost?
Classes are offered at no cost and most locations offer free childcare during classes.
What is the Alexandra Surdyk Jones Foundation, Inc.?
It is a 501-c-3 non-profit organization whose mission is to help women through its job-readiness program, JumpSTART Your Career.
What is the curriculum?
The workshop classes focus on:
  • Identifing individual strengths
  • Determining areas of interest and compatible careers
  • Improving communication skills
  • Learning networking and team building skills
  • Developing more positive attitudes and self-confidence
  • Writing effective resumes, researching potential employers and preparing for interviews
What is the JumpSTART Your Career program?
It is a program of self-discovery and leadership for women in the workplace to help them become successful and self-sufficient.
Who are JumpSTART Your Career students?
JumpSTART women have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (most have a college degree; some have graduate degrees) and a minimum of 2 years work experience.
They are typically:
  • Single mothers trying to find lucrative work with flexibility
  • Women entering or re-entering the workforce after an absence
  • Employees of downsized companies who are forced to seek new opportunities
  • Women who simply feel they are in dead-end/unsatisfying jobs and aspire to more
  • 80% are divorced; 50% have children living at home

Thanks for the opportunity to meet and get to know others who were also trying to define where they want to go in the future. It was great to know that I am not the only one who was unsure about her direction. We all went through the process together creating written plans and helping each other in teams. The information was presented in a clear and understandable way and I liked that we were stepped through each process. The teachers really cared about helping us become successful. It was great!
